Important Notes: Final practice conditions were a little closer to what the drivers should experience during the race on Sunday–if they race. Unfortunately, a lot of rain is in the forecast, so it’s going to be an interesting race day. Chase Elliott scraped the wall early in this final practice session, but didn’t do a whole lot of damage. It took the #9 team about 15 minutes to fix the damage and Chase was back on track. Later on in the session, it was thought that Ryan Preece blew an engine because he had unexplained smoke, but it was later revealed to be a tire rub, and nothing major wrong with the car.
Drivers that had to serve a 15-minute penalty this session: Bubba Wallace, Ryan Preece, Landon Cassill, Gray Gaulding, Bayley Currey, and Timmy Hill.
